After the Atlantic in December 2002 (First single-handed transatlantic in the "20 feet sport" category (less than 20 feet sport catamaran without cabin), non stop, not assisted, approved by WSSRC/ISAF ) and the Pacific in August 2006 (World Record - North Pacific Ocean Crossing, single-handed, non stop, not assisted in the "20 feet sport" category, approved by WSSRC/ISAF) Alessandro Di Benedetto, a Franco-Italian geologist ,39 years old, decided to sail "around the world".

Put on tight diving suit.  Hard conditions on board. Waves of 6 meters, breakers, quite white sea.
Findomestic is reacting well at the moment. OK on board

The ‘code zero ‘ of Fabrice’s   6.50 m  is repaired!

This morning: sewing up. The ‘gennaker ‘ is repaired. I’ve got food for 4 months ahead but no more coffee...  :)!

I tore my best ‘gennaker’  , no more surf at 8,5 knots ! Rain, wind getting stronger, I reduce the sail

Light wind since this morning, I am slowly sailing ahead at 2 or 2,5 knots ... whales, dolphins and sperm whales. A cargo less than 100 meters right ahead, no answer from VHF, impossible to read its name because it’ almost the night.

Sabato 17 luglio 2010Alessandro è a 300 miglia da Les Sables d'Olonne.Ultime  48 ore di buon vento e di navigazione con grande spi a 6,5 nodi.Velocità ridotta a 1 nodo toccando l'anticyclone.Oggi si può sperare un arrivo verso il 21 luglio se le previsioni meteorologiche non cambiano. Il morale a bordo è sempre ottimo come al primo giorno di navigazione!Parenti ed amici italiani cominciano ad arrivare a Les Sables, si parlerà italiano sul pontile del Vendée ...
